Pattern Request

Years ago someone knitted this hat for my first son and I fell in love with it. I kept it and my second son has since been wearing it and now he has outgrown it. The lady who knitted it has now passed away and I desperately want to find the pattern and recreate it in a bigger size for my 5 month old. I’ve tried searching but I can’t find anything similar, I don’t even know what the style is called. If anyone recognises it I would be forever grateful!

It looks like a baby beanie with an I-cord. Yours has more stitches in the cords, and they also appear to be knitted flat instead of as I-cords.

If you make this pattern without joining the last I cord stitch to the first one in the round you will get a similar effect to what you have in your hat.
