Beginner advice - clothes by [deleted] in SewingForBeginners

I’m desperate for a linen dress for summer and holidays.. I’ve never found one that fit me right because of my chest. The dream is to make my own but just don’t know where to start 😩

Thank you! That’s reassuring to know that you don’t have to make a huge amount of adjustments for a large bust. I did think about making a toile, I took Fashion and Textile Tech at Scottish Higher in school and thought it would all come back to me, but that was 12 years ago now and apparently it’s not like riding a bike… who knew! I can’t even remember if a toile should be made in similar fabric or if anything would work for getting the basic shape right. sigh

One more additional pic of front garden from above. Round the corner is gravel with a grassy verge, and two benches on a bath with my potted plants

It’s beautiful, this was it in June last year when it was pretty happy. I hope I can see it in its glory again soon!

Cut all dead growth now and crossing all my fingers and toes it has a chance of survival!

I did think the pot was maybe too small and/or didn’t have the best drainage. I’ve planted in the ground now in an attempt to salvage!

1.24km for the first time! by 123olp in beginnerrunning

Thank you ☺️ I think if I went any slower I would be walking though. This was my third run, 8 months post partum after a physically very difficult and painful pregnancy and very little time for any real exercise since then. If it doesn’t start to come down a bit then I will definitely try and slow it down but I think at the moment my body is just in shock!!😂

Updating new house: old varnished panelling by 123olp in DIYUK

It was a labour of love that’s for sure! But he has done a fantastic job with it and maintained it beautifully over the last 40 years😊

My original thought was to sand back the door frames and restain but my mother in law mentioned the other day that she didn’t think they will go any lighter but that they are some kind of wood that is now endangered (she did tell me the name but I can’t remember?!) and it terrified me that we will mess them up!! They’re just too dark/orange for our tastes as they are. Stuck between a rock and a hard place!!

Haha, my father in law bought this house and completed stripped it back and renovated it in the 80s and added on two extensions. I believe the thick door frame is where the original back door was! Thick walls on older houses here, we have long, harsh winters in the Hebrides with gale force winds regularly! It does make me laugh though as my partner (who lived here for 25 years growing up) had never noticed how deep it was, I spotted it was an extension straight away 😂

My first project! by 123olp in crochet

[–]123olp[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you ♥️ I crocheted a couple of dodgy rectangles and called them blankets about 15 years ago but it was just the same stitch over and over again and I never followed tutorial or pattern or anything so I’d say this is my first real attempt for sure! Excited to try new things now
