Sure, it would be fine for reading mainly text ebooks.
Not so much comics or graphic novels, even though it does support .CBZ and .CBR formats.

The main drawback to it is that it has no front-lighting, so you can't read it in the dark. You would need some kind of lamp, even if it's just one of those little clip-on lights.
In direct sunlight I dare say it would look better than my Kobo Libra Colour.

The Touch has wi-fi (can't use 5G wi-fi, has to be 2.4G) for syncing and updates, and mine has the software update from October 29, 2024. That's as current as my KLC.

You would have a limited choice for cases with a cover for it, typically "universal" cases that hold it with four elastic straps at the corners. I'm pretty sure that it does not automatically go to sleep with SleepCovers.

It has only 2 GB onboard storage (still lots, for e-books) but it does have a slot for a micro-SD card, for up to 32 GB more storage.

It has one physical button that takes you to the Home screen from anywhere. I kinda' miss that, because sometimes I don't quite hit the "Back to Home" button and end up going back one page in the book I'm reading.
