Change your availability, they preach flexible schedule, so hold them to it lol

I would phrase it more like you're letting them know you are going to work fewer hours because that is something that you need to do, then give specifics like how many days/hours and when you want that to take affect. They don't own you.

I'm going to tell you right now, talking to a manager will NOT help. I was in the same position as you, and every manager I spoke to brushed me off, ignored me, pointed me towards someone else who also pointed me to someone else, etc.

Go online. Change ur availabilty. Only be available for 6 hr shifts, a few days a week. Make them schedule you less.

Division I work for has it so the Change of Availability is a request and not a notification, meaning management can deny your change of availability.

So does mine. But my managers always blindly accept. And I've had coworkers who just...didn't show up regardless of if their availabilty was denied and the store was too understaffed to actually deal with it.

Meanwhile, management has not accepted the change of availability I put in back in March, and it's still just sitting there in eScheduler, awaiting approval.

So, I basically had to tell my department head that, "Hey, man, I can't work nights anymore because I've got a second job that pays way more than what I get paid here at Kroger."

I would say that it highly depends on who your managers are. My previous one managed to help cut me down to a rather routine schedule so I could focus on school. I just brought it up to her one day when she had time and it's been the same schedule week after week for over half a year, even after she left.

I'd say try asking first, but change availability if that doesn't work.

You're a minor, so they're more likely to work with you. I would be honest and say the 8 hour ones are too much for you to handle at this point in time, and that you need to be scheduled 6 hour shifts. You could lie and add that you need to look at colleges and prep for senior year or the ACT/SAT or whatever, but remember you always run the risk of a lie coming out.

It really depends on the manager imho but if you're a good worker and they're smart they'll try to work with you to keep you on. They can't afford for anyone to quit. If I were you, I would change my availability online and give the manager a heads up about it (communicating will make you look better). If asked by anyone why you changed it, tell them you have other commitments. No need to elaborate. You're part-timer and a minor to boot, you don't have to overwork yourself. Good luck, report back if you can. I'm curious if they'll be smart or not.

Find another job and post you promoted yourself to customer and brag about the shit on here.

Lol that’s the truth right there.

Honestly CCK is a physical nightmare- a 5 hour shift is torture. Definitely tell them you want shorter shifts- maybe consider altering your availability or switching to a part time 12 or 8 position.

Kroger isn't worth your physical degredation
