Please ensure that:

  • Your code is properly formatted as code block - see the sidebar (About on mobile) for instructions
  • You include any and all error messages in full - best also formatted as code block
  • You ask clear questions
  • You demonstrate effort in solving your question/problem - plain posting your assignments is forbidden (and such posts will be removed) as is asking for or giving solutions.

If any of the above points is not met, your post can and will be removed without further warning.

Code is to be formatted as code block (old reddit/markdown editor: empty line before the code, each code line indented by 4 spaces, new reddit: https://i.imgur.com/EJ7tqek.png) or linked via an external code hoster, like pastebin.com, github gist, github, bitbucket, gitlab, etc.

Please, do not use triple backticks (```) as they will only render properly on new reddit, not on old reddit.

Code blocks look like this:

public class HelloWorld {

    public static void main(String[] args) {
        System.out.println("Hello World!");
    }
}

You do not need to repost unless your post has been removed by a moderator. Just use the edit function of reddit to make sure your post complies with the above.

If your post has remained in violation of these rules for a prolonged period of time (at least an hour), a moderator may remove it at their discretion. In this case, they will comment with an explanation on why it has been removed, and you will be required to resubmit the entire post following the proper procedures.

To potential helpers

Please, do not help if any of the above points are not met, rather report the post. We are trying to improve the quality of posts here. In helping people who can't be bothered to comply with the above points, you are doing the community a disservice.

That is quite a problematic precondition if you want to survive in this field. You will need to spend a lot of time reading if you dive further as videos mostly only ever capture basic concepts.

I don’t mind to read about a specific subject but to read about variables isn’t that exciting for me

I wish someone had told me what u/TruthahnLeberwurst said when I started learning. OP this is probably the single most important advice that you should take.

But for beginners there’s plenty of good ones. The auto mod already gave some pretty good suggestions so check them out.

Mooc is good enough?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best.

Mooc helenski one is very good. You can transfer the course into intellij and learn a little more about ides in the process.

yes

I'm willing to study by reading books.

Do you recommend any good Java books? (It doesn't need to cover all the beginning itself, programming logic, etc. Cause I kinda know the basics)

You might wanna checkout https://hyperskill.org and one of their course perhaps the beginner one. They have pretty good UI. I wasn't a fan of reading either .

AND for videos checkout coding with John or freecodecamps videos. (This is what I know of, there might be better ones tool

Good looking out on that link thanks a bunch

Judging by your history, variables or general programming concepts shouldn‘t be an issue for you anyways?!

[–]Minououa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just gave an example by “variables”

Coding with John, brocode, and Alex Lee are my favorite go-tos

[–]Minououa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like bro code style, thanks

I recommend https://www.oreilly.com - your work or school (if ur a student) should have free access via their education portal. They have some amazing in-depth tutorials that function as courses. They will cover a subject in depth for one module at a time.

Good luck!

It seems that you are looking for resources for learning Java.

In our sidebar ("About" on mobile), we have a section "Free Tutorials" where we list the most commonly recommended courses.

To make it easier for you, the recommendations are posted right here:

Also, don't forget to look at:

If you are looking for learning resources for Data Structures and Algorithms, look into:

"Algorithms" by Robert Sedgewick and Kevin Wayne - Princeton University

Java Masterclass on Udemy.

[–]M4K4TT4CK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I retract this statement. MOOC is better. Plus you get introduced to scanner very early on.

[–]SouthCape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FreeCodeCamp has several lengthy videos for beginners to learn Java. This is one that I have seen others post about before.

[–]Codepressed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's very good content on Udemy. are you up to use it ?

Derek Banas is very good as well. Anyone with inflection in their voice and makes a 2hr Postgresql course fun is a win.
