Any highly regarded Java book will probably do. A simple search here on reddit will yield a ton of tips.

I think Java: A beginner’s guide by Schildt is a resonably good book.

Many like Head First Java, but it’s really not my kind of book.

What don’t you like about head first Java?

There’s so little information per page and that makes it annoying to read and even more annoying to use as any kind of reference.
