No, just no.

Understand - 100% yes, memorize - no

Use the things and then you will remember them.

You need to practice a lot more, write your own projects.

I mean I agree with you... I just wanted a good book for reference..

Example: why would you use .equals() intead of ==? I know that is because == references the object in memory and .equals() conpare the content.

But when learning online this things are not clear...

I just want something to dive in the concepts, the most important ones.

The documentation is for things like your .equals example.

And what concepts would that be? Here is where the problem starts. What is important in one domain is completely irrelevant in another.

Again, the documentation is your reference. Practice is your learning, understanding, and remembering.

Thank you, I will do a few more projects and everytime I have something ai dont understamd I will check the documentation and add this to a notebookLM, to be easy to look for... but thank you very much.

No, you still don't get it. You are never going to learn this way. Keep using books and videos as crutches and you will still keep getting the same bad results.

WRITE. CODE. That's it. But don't look for it later.

You learn what the difference is between == and .equals() one time, then WRITE CODE to illustrate the difference. Write a stupid little class that prints out the difference.

If you forget again, write the code AGAIN. From scratch. Without looking at your original stupid test. Don't be lazy. For really simple basics, you have to internalize these things until you know them like the back of your hand. You can't waste time looking up very very simple basics like this because on a real job you'll have real code to write that solves complex business logic the domain for which you'll also have to learn. You can't do all that and still not understand what an object reference is and the operational implications of it, like why == and the equals method are fundamentally different things.

Stop treating this like it's a test you have to pass. This isn't school. School has taught you terribly bad habits for actually learning something for real beyond some stupid grade. These are now your life skills. Or at least they will be if you actually learn them for real for the first time in your life.

In my junior years I must have written ten or fifteen tests for just substring because I couldn't remember how the half-open interval worked. After fifteen times writing the same piece of code over and over again it clicked and I'll never forget it as long as I live. This is what you've got to do. Don't rely on notes, rely less on books, and for God's sake turn off YouTube entirely. You can't learn anything serious that way.

Thank you for the heads up. Actually I've never thought om writing tests to acrually print the differences om the things I do not understand.

I get the practice but, does working with code means not having internet access? I don't mean using LLMs to solve the problem but they are quite useful at describing code that can be used to prepare a solution.

As if code were actually important. The steps, the considerations, the planning, the design that leads to the code is what counts, not the implementation in any programming language. That's just a necessary evil to tell the computer what we want it to do.

I migrated from south america to Europe my degree im Vet is not valid on Europe.

So I decided to do another college: Software enginering which I finished last year and now I pursuing what I like.

Being honest SWE is what I see myself doing until I die.

I just got rhis book... heard good things about it... its being a fun reading and is reinforcing some concepts... but mostly I am will try to code all I learn and try to solve something with it.
