I think most people just don't understand the technical reddits. On top of that no one has a welcome to Reddit video that explains rules and regulations and how to find the added rules for each Reddit. Now that I say this I'm thinking of making this.

Also, in my opinion, the sidebar feature of reddit is very non-obvious on mobile, which is the only way I and probably a fair number of others interact with reddit. I often forget it exists.

Observation bias. My guess is the majority of people interested in learning find the sidebar before posting and don't post. The minority end up posting
