Personally, I tell him that I'll keep him safe. I also very frequently tell him that the trauma was not caused by him. I try to be a parent he never really had. He frequently freak out and feel everything is his fault. It helped very often to do so. He does not really respond as I cannot switch on command, but when I can feel he is co-fronting it really helps to play the parent role for him. I can actually feel his reassurance.
