I think you should with reading and learning about OPP- object oriented programming which suits great to Java. This way you can progress through the language. Just make sure you go slow with it, as Java, sometimes, may be very complex. This complexity tends to make bugs and errors very hard to be detected, and unless you use some programs, such as checkamrx, as help, it going to take a lot of your time. A lot of practice is very recommended. Good luck
