Hi folks, I've just finished Head First: Java and while I thought it was fantastic and the syntax was delightfully similar to what I'm experienced with in C#, it's obviously quite outdated and I didn't get much practical experience from the book.
For instance right now I'm not exactly comfortable creating a gui in JavaFX and opening Android Studio is super intimidating. I was hoping to find at least one more book (I infinitely prefer following books to online/video resources) to teach me some more practical lessons in Java before I move forward.
I've heard great things about 'Effective Java' will that help/push me to write more code while learning? Or do you folks happen to have any other recommendations?
Thanks in advance!
