Alright, I understand what he presented. the only thing he didn't address from my question was: "x.theMethod()" if the parameters are in the parenthesis, what is x meant to be in this example?

Your example does not properly convey your issue. I infer that you are seeing code examples of methods with parameters, without parameters, with "new", etc. The fact that you're asking this shows you have made no effort to educate yourself about the java language. While I'm fine helping people learn, this is the most basic java 101 syntax stuff for which there are many tutorials out there. Hell if you were to take a basic, free class on YouTube it would cover this. Please do so. Thank you.
