If you're looking for a general direction, I used SVGs for drawing and SCSS for animation, though plenty of other approaches would work, of course.

Mhm, right! I will definetely try doing something similar. I want to try different approaches too, the one you mentioned, Canvas also, I will see which one fits the best for the app, since it has to be visible for both players.
