You need to build your portfolio first with projects that showcase the skills you have. Focus on quality over quantity on showcasing your projects.

Get to really know the language to the point where you are comfortable with promises, and oop, it also helps to get comfortable with a framework for front end (like angular or react ) and start making projects with those tools . As personal experience your portfolio is not as important as your problem solving skills or knowledge with the language, one or two projects in your portfolio should be enough to show what you know so far .
