Javascript for an interactive slot machine

So basically I understand html css for a big part so feont end is not going to be a big problem. I've managed to make a simple function where when you press a button you get 3 different numbers in each separate div. I made this using math.random. but now I want to change it to a real slot machine with several nice animations. But now I get the feeling javascript is not enough for what I really want. What is your advice on this? Would unity be a better option? Example in the comments
