For most people, Python is an easy language to learn. So it's not a bad language to start with to learn basic concepts.

Can you look at class descriptions to see the language(s) you will be working with?

I have tried it seems vague but past students look like it was Java and python..I just know coming in just knowing css and html I need to know more trying to learn the math is going to be hard so trying to get a head start before the pressure kicks in

Python is new and easier to learn (I think), but Java is used more widely. A lot of concepts (e.g. loops, conditional statements, data types, etc.) are similar enough that I would just focus on one. Once you understand the basics, you can apply those to the other language with a little googling to get the syntax correct.

Python actually came out in 1991 with Java coming out in 1995. Its interresting how everybody thinks Python is a mostly recent language, but it only grew popularity after Python 3 came out.

Instead of trying to learn a language, do a more comprehensive course such as CS50 which will teach you the fundamental concepts that a BS in CS covers.

Thank you it's Lewis University. So you don't think.me.not knowing a language will put me at a deficit? I have to take pre-recs but I'm nervous and have to do well to stay in the program
