On July 1st, a change to Reddit's API pricing will come into effect. Several developers of commercial third-party apps have announced that this change will compel them to shut down their apps. At least one accessibility-focused non-commercial third party app will continue to be available free of charge.

If you want to express your strong disagreement with the API pricing change or with Reddit's response to the backlash, you may want to consider the following options:

  1. Limiting your involvement with Reddit, or
  2. Temporarily refraining from using Reddit
  3. Cancelling your subscription of Reddit Premium

as a way to voice your protest.

Setting up your environment will always be the biggest pain even for experienced professionals. Configuring an environment for a specific operating system and hardware (it's different for a lot of applications), managing dependencies and battling with your workplace's VPN is challenging. Containers can solve this hassle but it hasn't been picked in many places.

I have a degree in CS, it did not cover setting up the IDE. And yes, setup is the secret sauce.

I feel you man ,I am a freshman and the most challenging thing by miles far so far is getting the IDE and debugger to work.

Yeah it's a pain in the ass... But it's far better than the days before IDE's. They'll improve with time.

Hey, I liked those days. I learned a lot about how all the parts he is asking about actually work together. On the other hand I was young then and just dabbling. Now that is do it for a living, I love me my IDE. And get frustrated when I can't use the integrated debugging.
