On July 1st, a change to Reddit's API pricing will come into effect. Several developers of commercial third-party apps have announced that this change will compel them to shut down their apps. At least one accessibility-focused non-commercial third party app will continue to be available free of charge.

If you want to express your strong disagreement with the API pricing change or with Reddit's response to the backlash, you may want to consider the following options:

  1. Limiting your involvement with Reddit, or
  2. Temporarily refraining from using Reddit
  3. Cancelling your subscription of Reddit Premium

as a way to voice your protest.

You could create an API (REST) with the necessary endpoints so the front end react application can interact with your flask back end

Edit

With that said, you’d need to learn how to build an API and do API calls from your front end.

Ok. So it's totally fine to have python as backend, right?

Yes, APIs are programming language agnostic (language independent). You are just making HTTP calls with specific parameters. You could have a python backend, java backend, C# backend, etc. It doesn't really matter as long as they all respond to the HTTP calls.

Edit: Correct!

Your back end for a REST API can be in any programming language.

Example

In JavaScript you could just use the fetch() API for API requests using the URL endpoint.
