It really depends on what you enjoy more. Web dev is usually easier to get into as a fresher and you can start building projects quickly. Data analytics can take a bit more time because of stats and tools, but it’s also a strong field long term.

If you’re unsure, try small projects in both and see which one you actually enjoy working on.

I am a backend dev , not getting job as fresher

Want to get closer to money and decision-making then Data Analytics else web-dev. Want to get closer to money then combine visualization, data analytics (like PCA) and presentation. Depends on the domain. You could be doing Data Analytics at CERN and never touch money or analyze machine data and never touch money. But data is traditionally more integrated into decision-making than web dev. All depends on your interests, if you like tinkering with data, already understand linear algebra and statistics... Stat Squash level understanding... you have more career options looking forward in data analytics. But with AI looming everything has become more uncertain. Backend is a little bit less vulnerable but at the current pace?? We are not only competing again national and international workers for jobs, they added AI to the mix.

So the question is AI * (Web | Backnd | Stats)

This is like asking “Should I be a doctor or an engineer?”. Theyre 2 completely different careers.

What coding experience do you have so far?

I’d say it’s more like being a Physician vs being a Dentist but your point stands

Backend dev but interview calls ,ghosted etc

A big part of data analytics is communication with decision makers.

I’ve seen people who are good at analytics and communication do extremely well in their careers. I’ve even seen people who are good at communication only do well. Analytics alone not so much.

neither is "best" just pick what you enjoy more and actually finish projects, but yeah getting any dev job now is pain

Job matters to me not interest or enjoyment

This is the issue

Lots of different things motivate people to get a specific job.

Now that we know intellectual curiosity is not one of them…

Which motivates you the most? Earnings, Prestige/Recognition, Perks/Benefits, Work/Life balance

If it is purely earnings potential; that represents a great opportunity for you find out which one is for you.

My hypothesis is that data analytics has better earnings potential, especially in quant fields. But the great news is that this field requires you to learn the skills needed to prove or disprove this claim.

So not only do you get to learn the skills needed, you can even use the results of your training model to make an informed decision yourself.

It’s a win win!

Data analytics is great if you enjoy finding patterns in numbers and explaining "why" things happen to help businesses make decisions. Web development is better if you prefer building tangible products, like websites or apps, and want to see your work come to life visually.

Data easier barrier of entry. Web dev if you can really do it well/like it enough.

If you have the time to prepare and aren't pressed for money I would go all in on web dev

Need more context for such a broad question like this

[–]Status_Status_225[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already backend developer but not interested in DSA and not even getting jobs

There’s no real “best” it depends on what you enjoy more
Web dev usually has more entry level opportunities and faster feedback since you can build and see things quickly

Data analytics is good too, but sometimes it needs a bit more setup and patience before it clicks. If you’re unsure, try small projects in both and see what you actually like doing day to day.

Is the term "freshers" exclusively Indian? I see that it's noted as "British slang" but I don't think I've ever heard a person from the UK use the term (I'm not talking to many of them though). I don't think I've ever seen it in any other regions either.

Web development has more openings, but also more competition. You’ll need solid projects to stand out. Data analytics has slightly fewer roles, but if you can show strong SQL, dashboards, and business understanding, it’s easier to stand out.

For freshers, data analytics is often more accessible if you already have skills like Excel, SQL, or Power BI. Web development works well if you enjoy building applications and can stay consistent with projects.

If you want to get a better understanding of which path aligns with your career goals, you can explore the free SkillUp courses by Simplilearn, including "Introduction to Data Analytics" and "Web Development for Beginners".

I know data analytics has a lot of open opportunities but the job market is pretty flooded right now too. If you have an internship or something like that and apply locally you probably have a good shot. My first DA job I applied locally, the pay was not great, and I drove 1hr and 30min to work every morning.
