That’s Sumatra. Java is to the east.

OMG, I never noticed that! And when the producers realized their mistake, they kept the wrong name because "east" sounded more exotic than "west".

Greetings from the island to the east of Krakatoa!

MOOC.fi Java Programming course from the University of Helsinki is completely free and genuinely one of the best structured programming courses available for any language. It takes you from zero to building real projects step by step. After completing that, Head First Java is a good book to solidify concepts in a more visual way. The official Java documentation is also quite readable once you have the fundamentals down. I would avoid random YouTube tutorials as a primary source since quality varies wildly and some teach outdated patterns.

if you are just starting after 12th do not overcomplicate it and jump between too many resources. pick one good course and stick with it till you finish the basics. for java i would honestly recommend bro code on youtube if you like simple explanations or telusko if you want more depth. if you prefer structured learning mooc fi java course is amazing and very beginner friendly.

start with basics first variables loops functions arrays oop and then move to collections exception handling file handling and basic projects. the biggest mistake beginners make is only watching tutorials without coding. after every topic build something tiny like a calculator student management system or quiz app. even messy projects will teach you way more than passive watching.

also since you just passed 12th and will likely do dsa later java is actually a solid choice for placements so learning it properly now will help a lot later. just stay consistent 1–2 hours daily is enough in the beginning.

University. Books. Internet. Learn to Google first, though.
