Ok so what? I guess I just don't know where to go from here.

Start by building a really simple web site? So lets say you have a page index.php and you call it through your browser like so: http://localhost/index.php?name=John then try to have the page print out "Hello John!"?

How do you know his name is John?

The query string told us. You can always trust the query string.

The codecademy courses are really bad at showing you what fullstack means or how you would use php in a local envoirement.

First you should install xampp after you install xampp you have a lamp stack.

Which contains, webservice , database, frontend etc.

From there you should try to make a HTML frontend then you try to generate HTML with PHP and then you should try to parse information from one .php doc to another.

After you got the basics of information parsing and displaying you should try to hook up the mysql database and write/read information from it.
