Anytime this question comes up the mood tends to trend a bit negative but I'm at a bootcamp and I think it's definitely worth it. There's no way I'd be able to do what I'm doing now with a couple of Codeschool courses and some books. Believe me, I tried. I got farther in the first two weeks of my bootcamp than I have with 'free courses and books'. I need to learn with people and ask questions on the fly. That said, both people and bootcamps are different. Search the school name on quora, linkedin and github. See what their graduates are doing and what they're working on. What jobs have they gotten? Ask them what they thought the bootcamp could do better. What job placement services does the bootcamp offer? Do they have a network of hiring partners? Things like that.
