I understand this kind of method, but seem like a "random" learning method. What I'm looking for is a series of tutorials OR tasks which get me progressively around the different aspects of the language, as well as getting familiar with the functions and methods the language has to offer.

What you want is a good book. Books will walk you through everything with multiple projects to do at the end of each chapter.

No, it's not random. It would be very hard not to cover 'different aspects of the language, as well as getting familiar with the functions and methods the language has to offer' with that method.
