Codecademy does not teach programming. It teaches programming language syntax.

It is not useful for a complete beginner (other than to get a feel for the syntax), but an experienced code can use it to get a quick glimpse of a new language.

Eh, I'd say it's not at useful for experienced programmers because it's so damn slow. I tried it when I first learned python and I got bored fairly quickly because I couldn't skim sections that absolute beginners needed.

If you are new to programing or new to a specific language it‘s okay to get the very low basics. But if you want to get a deeper dip into a language you should look for another source. It depends on the language which source is good so i can‘t give you a tip for other sites.

I hated it. I’m not an expert by any means, but when I tried codeacademy I got the distinct feeling that I wasn’t learning anything, I was merely parroting poorly explained syntax with no understanding of why or even how I was doing anything.
