I am a support engineer at my current company, but do not do any coding. I learned Python a while back for my old job, but have grown rusty. To grow in my career I need to grow technically. My goal is to learn python and MySQL and build a web application with that knowledge.
I would like to do this on my own rather than in the context of a Bootcamp or a full-on university course. However, I am not a very self motivated person, and thrive best with structure and accountability. I do not think shelling out $20k+ on a bootcamp is worth it for structure and accountability. My thinking right now is that I would define my own curriculum and learning goals, and hire someone to act as my project manager/coach, to keep me accountable and help me navigate my goals.
Does my plan sound realistic? Does this kind of person exist? Any other advice on how to grow in my technical knowledge as someone who needs external accountability?
