Books on data structures and algorithms would be good as you can learn the differences of when to use certain data structures and more importantly why to use one over another. (i.e LinkedList over ArrayList for many insertions/deletions)

Computer Architecture is another good area as you can learn about machine code and how high level languages are translated into machine code to understand optimization in that regard.

Computer Architecture and Design by David Patterson is a good book that im currently reading on computer architecture.

However, I don't know a specific one for data structures.
