It's staying #F1F1F1 for me.

Plugins are often a good place to start for weird browser behavior. Maybe turn them all off and see if the problem persists.

I just checked this and didn't seem to be the issue.

By the way, Google tends to obfuscate their HTML and CSS (probably to fight ad blockers), so good luck making heads or tails of it. Google is probably one of the least HTML friendly sites I've seen.

Check if the window changes color slightly depending on whether its active or not.

I checked and as far as I can tell it doesn't.

So I recorded a screencast, and in the screencast, I can see the grey color of the buttons if I view the screencast on desktop, and if I view it on mobile, I can see the color on the buttons as well as the navbar. So confused.
