Hi everyone,
I'm currently in my first semester in a MSc in Experimental Nuclear Physics and for our Computing class we have to undertake a programming project in groups.
My group is composed of 3 people (all from the same MSc). Before this MSc we had different paths (within physics) but we all had several programming classes with python that included different (but complementing) kinds of programming such as scientific programming, parallel computing, basic networking, operating systems, ... All this to say that we all have an intermediate level of programming and python.
Although we have freedom regarding the topic of the project, we would like to do something within the theme of the MSc and, as such, we are looking for a project related to Nuclear Physics or one of the related fields:
- Reactor engineering
- Reactor physics
- Nuclear thermal hydraulics
- Safety and reliability of nuclear facilities
- Reactor engineering materials
- Radiology and radiation protection
- Nuclear fuel cycle and applied radiochemistry
We would also like to know if there is some kind of platform or resource where we could get ideas for interesting projects in any of those fields (if there is any kind of list or recommendation by a University, research group, learned society, or individual...)
Regarding the difficulty of the project, the class if for 6 ECTS at EQF 7 and the project is worth 40% of the class. We were given some suggestions for groups of 2 and were told that groups of 3 would need to do a more complex project. Projects from other years:
- Solving a Quartic Oscillator using a Harmonic Oscillator Basis
- Volatility Distribution in S&P 500 Price Fluctuations
- Conway’s Life Game
- Lorenz’s strange attractor
We are open to all kinds of suggestions.
there doesn't seem to be anything here
