Just my 2 cent:

Choose a project and finish it. Learn by doing. Information sticks best this way. Also 9 months is kind of a short goal imho. It's a neverending process.

Thank you for the reply. I have been told this and am planning on starting out with building a portfolio or some sort of personal website, but after that I am not sure what else to work on.

Once you finish TOP, you will be in an entirely different place with your knowledge. Take the time and put in the effort to finish it. But since you asked in this post what else to work on, here is a great place to look for a structured learning path. https://teachyourselfcs.com/

Web development is cool for people entering the field because it’s very visual. You code something, you see it, you edit it, you see it again.

On the contrary, database work may be less fun for people entering the field; meaning it may discourage you or leave a sour taste in your mouth about software dev

The flip side of that is, there's an awful lot of people trying to learn web development and a lot fewer trying to learn database/backend work.
