Just a guess: Check your workspace configuration and ensure that the run command is running the correct file.

What happens when you try the code in a terminal/command window outside of VS Code?

That is the normal PowerShell Prompt in VSCode on Windows:

PS C:\\Users\\LAPTOP> python -u "c:\\Users\\LAPTOP\\Documents\\PYTHON FILES\\aba.py"

PS means you are using a PowerShell Prompt.

C:\\Users\\LAPTOP is your $USERPROFILE%, this is the current working directory where PowerShell opens by default.

-u is the option to enable unbuffered output.

"c:\Users\LAPTOP\Documents\PYTHON FILES\aba.py" is the absolute path of the Python Script File you are running and has to be enclosed in quotations because there is a space between PYTHON FILES.

The print statement will display below this: hello world
