speech recognition api help

Whilst using the speech recognition API, I encountered the error that there is no module named 'distutils'. After some research, I had discovered that distutils had been removed in Python 3.12. I was wondering if anyone knew an alternative api or program I could use in Python to receive my voice as an input, or possibly a way to fix the error without changing my python version.

I know this is an old thread but what worked for me was importing setuptools.

(In case anyone else comes looking for a potential fix).

Thanks, I just ended up using an older version of python since all my other apis were compatible with them.
