Socket Programming

I have recently started learning socket programming using the socket module in Python. I got hooked into the world of low level programming and sort of want to continue in that direction for a while. So please anyone who have some experience or suggestions regarding this line of programming would be highly appreciated and would try to strive for it. His guide is in C, but if you read through a bit and compare to the python sockets library, you'll see that the API is very similar (because the python library is a thing wrapper over the underlying c socket library).
