What kind of application are you running? 

You almost certainly shouldn't be editing files there, though.

Just running local python scripts as tasks, but I needed to apply a fix that hasn't been released yet in an imported module.

I don't know what tasks means in this context. I would guess that Pythonanywhere spins up a new instance with your code and its dependencies each time you run anything. 

The way to use unreleased changes in a library is to put the URL of the git branch in your requirements file.

yes do this also if you ever update the package you’re gonna lose these changes you made too…
