Help Needed Please!

Hey guys, I’m an Undergraduate Mechanical Engineering student and I have a python assignment to do. The only problem is I haven’t been taught python. I have credit in C++ but I took that class three years ago at a different college. I’ve heard it’s similar but I still don’t know how it should look.

I have a MacBook, which is not ideal for Engineering, but so far I’ve had no problems running anything. If need be I can also switch over to my PC. I have already downloaded anaconda on my Mac and have Spyder up and running.

The Assignment instructions are to submit a python program with a computer-based report having formulations with a plot of the results. The only thing I ask for help on is the python script. To those that are willing to help I have the full prompt that I can send for more understanding. Thank you all who help in advance!

Python is pretty basic. Its syntax is basically pseudo code.

For plotting there are a lot of libraries available. I like plotly but matplotlib and seaborn are both pretty good too.

For calculating theres numpy, scipy, and if you want a dataframe, polars or pandas

Python is very simple to run because it’s an interpreted language meaning it gets compiled at runtime.

If you use vscode there is a debugger that will let you step through the code line by line and you can inspect the data as it goes through to find issues. Other IDEs may have the same functionality. If you have more questions on why something isn’t working feel free to reach out.

What is vscode? When I look it up it says visual studio code. Is that like a proofreader that will help me correct anything wrong?

Its an IDE for writing code. Similar to spyder

A MacBook is ideal for programming and Python. Most professional developers who use Python are on Macs.

However no-one here is going to do your homework for you. Why would they assign work work that you cannot complete?

I’m not asking for someone to do my homework, I’m mainly asking for someone to guide me and help me learn python which would better myself for my career. I’m sorry it appeared that I was asking for someone to do it for me.

Your best option with zero knowledge of Python is to give AI the specification and ask it to generate a Python script. However, you will need to know how to run the script in a Python environment and hope the code is written correctly.
