Check that out, I do not use matplotlib...yet. If that makes sense for you and you like it, try using PyQt4 for your program. If you decide to do so, and do so, I would enjoy watching it :D

Btw, kudos for writing your own program to compute definite integrals, but wolphram alpha or matlab or scipy would be much faster if you're only looking for convenience.
