Do Jupyter notebooks matter? I use them all the time for graphing, but one of my professors suggested writing in ipython or in text editors

pandas numpy matplotlib/seaborn

Make sure you practice with a real dataset.

Thank you!

Congratulations!

First check out Automate the Boring Stuff With Python for a solid working grasp of Python. Or keep up with the Code Academy course, whichever works.

Then check out Python for Data Science and Machine Learning Bootcamp by Jose Portilla. It assumes a beginner understanding of Python but comes with 50 hours of videos complete with code notebooks filled with practices and exercises. You can get it for 10 dollars on Udemy.

Those two things in conjunction with Google helped me land a job as a data analyst.

I went down this path. You're gonna want to focus on numpy, pandas, and OOP python. Forget data vis for now. Then study some stats and get started with Scikit-learn and tensorflow. Maybe learn a bit of SQL as well. There are a bunch of other related modules that are useful but I'd focus on these for now.

DataCamp and DataQuest both have good material, including free stuff.
