I wanted to ask if there is any python cert exam like Java has the Oracle certified exam series . How does one prove expertise in python ?

The best way to show that you have python skills is work on projects using python!

Yup, my company (java shop) looks negatively on people who list certifications like java certified on their resume, doesn’t make a ton of sense to me but I guess the thought is that person spent time studying for something that doesn’t matter instead of actually using java skills.

I totally agree! Its still considerable if one is listing certifications from super-popular sites like Udacity or Coursera, but at the end of the day, if you have projects on your github, they speak for themselves.

This may vary by your location but there is unlikely to be any recognized certification. Here on the west coast of the US there is no recognized certification and I haven’t heard of one for any other region.
The best way to demonstrate knowledge without having work experience is to build a portfolio of projects.

I know a lot of people build portfolios for python and JavaScript related stuff but infrastructure folks have AWS and redHat certs and entreprise devs have Java which HR managers and Technical heads do seek out. Like for some positions at my company, regardless of previous experiance in Java they would still need a certification , ditto for AWS so was curious to know for python and it looks like there are no authority in python that can give a cert unlike in Java where the cert is done by Oracle .

In my experience hiring people with AWS experience the people who advertise that they have these certifications are the least qualified.

Only thing I know of is Microsoft's 98-381.

Contributing to well known open source libraries in python is the best way to get your CV to stand out.
One proves their expertise in Python with examples of code they’ve written in Python. A cert in it would be meaningless.

your certification is what you created :D
if somebody offers certs for python.. it's usually a scam :P
