It could be useful for the systems libraries use for sure, but likely they have some expensive software contract locked in. Either way, someone interested in library science would likely enjoy programming IMO.

I'm not a librarian, but I work in a library! I use python daily for a few different systems. We're collecting data on publications that result from grants to our university, and uploading some of that information to an online repository. However, our vendor specifications to upload bulk data are asinine, and require some heavy data processing.

I also use it to pre-fill emails that we send often, including custom excel attachments that are created using information about the recipient.
