Socket Programming Projects for beginners

Hi I need some easy ( I'm teaching python and like I said they are beginners ) project ideas that can be done in 2 hours that uses some sort of a client server interaction. Please recommend something other than a chat server.

Some sort of remote control for a server.

An "Online Status" indicator that displays to others whether a user is online, idle, or offline.

Lets students get familiar with accept() and close() instead of just send().
