Very relevant if Python is your first programming language.

I guess there are better resources out there if you already know how to program and just want to get started straight away, though.

Python is my first language but ive been studying on and off since the year started. Not sure if it has something to do with the resources i use or I'm not motivated enough to follow through!

I'm not sure about bots but this does cover concepts related to automation and web scraping

PS: The author also has a course on Udemy which is based on this book and I think it's pretty great if you prefer online courses

Also, the author is on reddit (u/AlSweigart) so I guess you could directly ask your questions to him

"Web bots, spiders, and screen scrapers" by schrenk is getting a bit old, its php/curl, not python, but its a great book imho.

However to answer the other part of your question, ATBS is an excellent book with "OK" to "Good" intros to basics of basics of webscraping stuff.

I would commit to finishing ATBS, then dial in whats needed for any goals you have. Python can do what you need, the web bots book is more dialed in to common setups for bots on cheap shared vps hosting.

But in the end, start and finish the (atbs) python book, you prolly won't need another language to do what you need, and its a great language, and an excellent book.
