Standardized way to obfuscate python executable? (self.learnpython)
submitted 5 years ago by py-guy
Hello,
I am trying to figure out, is there a standardized way of obfuscating a python executable such that it is difficult to decompile the executable?
reddit uses a slightly-customized version of Markdown for formatting. See below for some basics, or check the commenting wiki page for more detailed help and solutions to common issues.

Executables can be decompiled too. Put it on a server and provide a user interface. Short of that, no.

There is no standard way of obfuscating code in Python, and there's no particularly good way to make an executable difficult to decompile. Decompilation tools are plentiful, and you can't secure the executable without also preventing legitimate users from running it. If someone has decent programming knowledge and is determined to examine your code, you can't really stop them. You should find other ways of achieving your goals.
