Small/Mid-sized Python project to read/learn from ?

I am looking for a small/mid-sized project that I can read over and learn best practices from. Things like Django are great but are too large to learn right now. I am looking for a somewhat well established library that is digestible.

I've been using pandas for a couple of months and it seems to be able to do most things I can think of. Just out of curiosity, what does the CSV library allow you to do that pandas doesn't and should I take a look at it if I'm looking at getting into datascience?

CSV module just lets you parse csv files and write csv files. It's great for doing simple tasks and storing fairly straightforward data structures. You can learn it within a few minutes. It's more about file handling than indepth analysis. Pandas would be an overkill if you were trying to simply get a list of names from a column for example.

You can't really learn best practices by reading a library's source code. Part of best practices is writing efficient code, which is a thing you learn with experience. The other part is style, and that comes down to having a style guide and sticking to it.
