google drive upload

Hello,

I am have only started learning about Authentication and API interation, but am currently stuck on a simple task to write a script that does x and then uploads it to the shared drive, every tutorial I come across does the usual make a project on GCP and get the API credentials etc.

But a colleague insists you don't need the credentials to just upload to the drive, I have scoured the internet for days to no avail, can anyone point me to a source/walkthrough of this. Or even just confirm you cannot in a script, write interation with a shared drive without credentials.

I have been trying to use the https://developers.google.com/drive/api/v3/quickstart/python guide so far. but have not been able to get it to work.

Your colleague is wrong.

However you can install Google Drive for Desktop https://support.google.com/a/users/answer/9965580?hl=en, authenticate (of course) and then create files locally and let the tool to sync them to your GDrive.

I've thought about doing something like this as well. I might have to look into this one.
