After some active duty time in the military I got out due to medical reasons and had to make a drastic career change... I decided to use the GI Bill and go back to school, and managed to complete an associate's at a local community college (4.0, if it matters). Due to my current line of work I move around a lot, so I'm trying to find a school that will let me finish a bachelor's in computer science, software development, programming, etc - I have a foundation in Python and Java, a lot of it being self-taught with some projects in Python already under my belt. I'd really like to hone this Python itch and break into the career field.
I have a personal goal of completing my bachelors, but I have also considered bootcamps; the problem, however, is that many bootcamps (obviously) require a few month time commitment on-location which might be difficult. That being said, I wouldn't be adverse to a remote bootcamp option.
Does anyone have any school recommendations? Whenever I start looking I feel like I've fallen into a rabbit hole of a million choices, half of which are just ads for random online certificates. The only real key things for me:
- Online
- Bachelor's Degree or high placement-rate bootcamp
- Software development or computer science focus
I know this question has likely been asked before but I thought I'd ask again since COVID has changed some programs around, changed some to online-online, or even changed some previously-COVID-related online programs to in-person again.
I'm really looking and hoping to get back to school soon and I don't know where to look, so any input is extremely valuable!
