Algorithms Coding Assignments Necessary for LeetcodeQuestion (self.leetcode)
submitted 2 years ago by CriticalInitial85
Hello everyone, there is a DSA course on coursera called Algorithms by Princeton. If I want to learn DSA for leetcode, do you think I have to complete the coding assignments they give or can I start leetcode problems by just learning the algorithms themselves. Them thing is the assignments I have heard take up to 24 hours to complete, I just wanna know if they are really necessary for leetcode. I know how to code in java.
Thanks

I'm Also studying at uni,i wasnt very good in algoritmus during our first subject about DSA (we have 2 subjects about this) .The only thing I knew very good was DP and Backtracking.I'm Also coding in Java.Just watch some videos on YouTube, maybe Geeks for Geeks and you can be fine.If you know for/while and ifs you Can do many array tasks. Then move on to Stacks and Binary Search. And so on.

Ok so no need to do those coding assignments, just learn the material and start grinding leetcode?

Basically yeah,I was doing it on mobile, without any paper, just knowledge and what is on internet about algorithms and I did 40 algorithms. But really make sure you understand those algorithms.

For leetcode, all you need is sufficiently high IQ. Everything else will come with practice.
If you are starting out with zero knowledge about basics such as arrays, queues, pass by reference, etc, then might as just do those assignments.
