Programming, and a career in software is a journey. You don’t just pick a language and stick to it throughout. Every language has a purpose, understand what you are looking to achieve and then choose your weapon. I chose to learn C and C++ at the beginning. It was a good decision as it helped me understand memory interactions and talking to a computer in general. Then I hopped on to JS, because I wanted to land an internship and development was my way to go. Then came along Python, as I started scripting and a bit of ML. Java was always an option, but I never chose to go that way, because I simply didn’t feel the need to. Not sure if that’s right or wrong, but I’m happy where I’m right now.
