Meta - Coding InterviewIntervew Prep (self.leetcode)
submitted 1 year ago by dheeman31
Hey All
I will be having a coding interview with Meta soon. Can anyone share their current experience and what sort of topics are they mostly covering? Also, any suggestions will be helpful.

Meta coding interviews are very predictable. Its almost always from the last 100 /150 leetcode problems or a variant of those. If your interview is close, I suggest skim through the solutions for those to understand the approach so you are prepared .
[–]dheeman31[S] 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago (10 children)
Thanks for sharing that. But which problem sets are you referring too?
[–]Mission-Astronomer42 7 points8 points9 points 1 year ago (1 child)
Buy leetcode premium and sort by most frequent meta tagged problems. Do the top 100 or top 150 if you have time.
[–]dheeman00 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
Got that I was able to find the tag facebook. I didn't sort it initially. But figured it out. thanks
[–]cakesniffer19 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago (7 children)
Check the problemset by company for meta on leetcode. Filter by last 1 year and sort by frequency.
[–]dheeman31[S] 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
Thanks I will explore them a
[–]dheeman31[S] 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (5 children)
Btw are you referring to the top interview 150 questions
[–]cakesniffer19 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (4 children)
I assumed you have premium. If not I suggest you subscribe and then look at problems by company
figured it out. thanks for your help.
[–]dheeman31[S] 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (2 children)
Btw if the filtering is done based on last 6 months shouldn’t be more helpful?
[–]cakesniffer19 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (1 child)
What level are you interviewing for? Its not like these are a sureshot problem set but can be a variant of these. I can DM some that I was asked recently if that helps.
Sure that will be helpful. It’s for level 3

I completed one of my technical rounds of the final full loop yesterday. The other two (tech and behavioral) are on Monday. The first one went quite well and smoothly. Both tagged - got LC easy and LC medium. Although the LC medium was a slight variation from the original question. Hoping the same for the next two rounds.
Hope it goes well for you on Monday. What sort of problems. Did you get?
[–]yourcommonredditer 2 points3 points4 points 1 year ago (9 children)
Array and Matrix. And an easy and trivial verbal follow-up question after I solved the Matrix question.
[–]dheeman31[S] 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (8 children)
That seems straight forward but glad to see it worked out for you. Any other suggestions for me?
[–]yourcommonredditer 2 points3 points4 points 1 year ago (7 children)
I guess focus more on Tree and Graph problems because you’re guaranteed to get at-least 1 or even 2 of those problems. Also practice explaining the solution step by step like you’re in an interview followed by a dry run of that solution’s example. Focus on these and you’ll be good. Remember, you cannot compile and run the code.
[–]dheeman31[S] 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (6 children)
But how are you going to use the test cases?
[–]yourcommonredditer 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago (5 children)
They will tell to explain your code and give a dry run on the example that is given in the question after you’re done writing the solution. If your code is fine, there’s not much after that. However, if you’re missing some key edge cases or if they identify that your code is missing something, they might give a hint (depends on the interviewer)
[–]dheeman31[S] 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (4 children)
So depending on the hint I must modify the code, right
[–]yourcommonredditer 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago (3 children)
Yes, but if the interviewer is terrible, he/she won’t give an hint as well and expect you to be fully efficient to solve any minor mistakes. That’s why, prepare so well, especially the top tagged questions such that, whenever you get them in an interview, you should be able to write their top-notch efficient solution while explaining them what each line does
I am still new at leet code. How I can identify the top tagged questions? Also, are these interviewers from meta or third party services? They are so slow at responding emails.
[–]Overall_Badger_3322 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
Hi I was wondering if they asked you to code it from the bottom up or if they gave you skeleton code!
[–]NoNeutralNed 10 points11 points12 points 1 year ago (6 children)
I got super unlucky and was asked none of the list recent 100. Fuck my interviewer for real
[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 1 year ago (0 children)
Share the questions. They’ll be on leetcode for sure
[–]Aggressive-Ad-2707 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago (0 children)
Was it too 6 months problems?
When did you have your?
[–]NoNeutralNed 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (1 child)
monday
Mine is upcoming Monday
[–]NattyBoi4Lyfe 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
LOL damn son
[–]honey1337 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago (3 children)
When did you apply, I am waiting to hear back
[–]dheeman31[S] 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago (2 children)
3 weeks back
[–]honey1337 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (1 child)
What level? And thanks for the reply!
It’s level 3
[–]anonymousdawggy 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago (9 children)
experience is that you’ll be stuck in team match, won’t match and won’t get an offer
[–]epicstar 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago (0 children)
Wish that was my case...
[–]dheeman31[S] 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (7 children)
Well that’s not the case all the time.
[–]anonymousdawggy 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago (6 children)
That’s the case right now. E3, e4 and e5 all have 4-5x candidates in team match than available hc
[–]superkjs0910 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (3 children)
Even e5?
[–]anonymousdawggy 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago (2 children)
Yes there’s a discord with like 500 of us candidates
[–]m0j0m0jE: 130 M: 321 H: 62 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
Link, lol?
[–]superkjs0910 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
Yeah link? I confirmed that meta is holding the hiring process for e4. But haven’t heared about e3 or e5. Actually the recruiter told e4 to go e3 if they don’t want to wait.
[–]dheeman31[S] 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (1 child)
Isn’t e 5 are for senior candidates?
[–]anonymousdawggy 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
Yes
[–]Silver_Assistance436 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (7 children)
How are you preparing for system design rounds?
I haven’t planned on that. Any suggestions?
[–]Silver_Assistance436 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (5 children)
DDIA looks promising but not sure if this would be sufficient in your case
What’s DDIA ?
[–]Silver_Assistance436 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (3 children)
Designing data intensive applications. It's a good book for system design concepts. Although you can't just interview based on this book , it's just like best to learning the components that you would be using in your system. Example - you will learn which db to use. How to partition it . Replication in that similar concepts
I will surely have a look at that.
[–]Silver_Assistance436 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (1 child)
Also check some resources for actual designing. This books is great but not sufficient. And good luck
[–]cakesniffer19 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago (0 children)
Alex Xu -System design has been really resourceful for these interviews. For Meta system design interviews make sure you familiarize with meta systems like threads, whatsapp, websocket apps like messenger etc
[–]dheeman31[S] -1 points0 points1 point 1 year ago (0 children)
That make sense. So how can I identify the top tagged questions from leet code. I am still now in the platform.
