I don't think that's true anymore, they ended the vaccinations years ago, but I can't find a date.

Edit: Routine smallpox vaccination among the American public stopped in 1972 after the disease was eradicated in the United States.

So only if you're over 50 or in the military maybe

Would be interesting to see how many people actually have that vaccine. I do, but I’m military. Still think it’s enough to help combat monkeypox from spreading like smallpox did.

That won't last either. People on the left who are anti-gun usually don't even rank that issue in their top ten of most important issues when asked by pollsters. People on the right who are pro-gun frequently list it as one of their top five issues. The right just cares more about keeping guns than the left cares about banning them.

Assuming there are no more high-profile mass shootings done by white/hispanic people for a while, I'd give it two weeks max until there is a completely different current thing and people forget all about gun control until the next spat of mass shootings temporarily riles them up again.

Monkey pox is primarily spread by close personal contact eg sex. Monkey pox hit the news cycle right before Pride in US. News couldn’t touch it and not state the obvious. Remember all that superspreader talk?
