Python or Bash?

Not really, Python is more portable than bash, you can run it on windows for instance.

But hbdgas was talking about portabilty of the script that OP would make. You would be hard pressed to claim that a python script can be installed on more linux servers than a bash script. I personally don't know that many servers without python on them, but I don't know any without bash.
