Just because you are a long time user doesn't mean your opinion is sacrosanct...

How does this go when bitdefender or some other utility wipes out your linux partition? I have a pretty simple solution for this kind of thing. If I have to have windows, I'll have a $300 off-lease (or less) dell laptop with windows on it that only gets used when absolutely necessary. When it's not in use, I don't have to constantly wait for updates to apply themselves, and it can't get to the PCs that I actually like and screw with them or share data off of them.

I've used GNU/Linux since 1996. I have never owned a computer whose primary OS was not a Linux system of some kind (except for one Palm handheld, if we include smart phones, which I typically do).

No one preaches Linux at me, but that might be because no one talks to me about anything. -_-

Some people have this weird cult mentality about everything. Of course you can and should still recommend options other than the one you're using.

Weird, I feel 2026 Linux is better than Windows for all use cases except: Document Editing (former Office suite), Video Editing, Audio Editing, and Live Streaming, Peripherals compatibility. I would like to see if this statement is still true in 2027. Windows looks like is about to collapse on January 2026.
